The Bereaved Parents Support Group is for parents who have experienced the death of a baby from conception to approximately one year of age.  It was started by parents who felt that no one should have to go through this difficult time alone.  Services are provided free of charge by parent volunteers.

Some of the services offered are:

♥ Monthly support group meetings

♥ Hospital visits

♥ Lending library of books on grief

♥ Telephone or letter contacts

♥ Holiday remembrance service

Experienced volunteers lead the Bereaved Parents Support Group.  Discussions are informal and are guided by the needs of parents who choose to come.  Everyone has the opportunity to talk about their baby or just listen at their own comfort level.

      Topics may include:

♥ Grief, shock, suffering, and recovery

♥ Creating and cherishing memories

♥ Guilt, blame, and anger

♥ Coping with holidays & special days

♥ Impact on the marriage and family

♥ Grief and spirituality

♥ Helping other children in the family

♥ After time has passed

♥ Reactions of friends and relatives

♥ Hope for the future

♥ Subsequent pregnancies

Who comes?  Parents who have experienced a pregnancy loss, stillbirth or infant death (prematurity related, SIDS, etc).  Newly bereaved parents and parents who have had some time to heal come together to share their experiences and offer support and understanding.

Meetings are held the 3rd Thursday of each month at 7:30 p.m. at St. Mary’s Hospital, Bay 4.

We are very sorry for your loss and extend our sympathy.
